DOUBLE-FACED

YOU TREAT ME AS FRIEND
BECAUSE YOU CAN
SHOWERED ME WITH FLATTERIES
BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT YOU THOUGHT I NEED

WELL, YOU CAN STOP PRETENDING NOW
WORLD ISN’T FAIR AS WE ASSUMED
I CAN TASTE THE BITTERNESS
IN YOUR SUGAR-COATED LIES

I ALWAYS KNEW IT
I JUST LET IT PASS
HOPING YOU’D BE TRUE
AND REVEAL THE REAL YOU
BUT I WAS WRONG
BECAUSE I LET THE MONSTER
GROW INSIDE YOU

I TREAT YOU AS FRIEND
BECAUSE I CAN
SHOWERED YOU WITH KINDNESS
BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT
YOU NEED

I DON’T WANT TO PRETEND, NO MORE
WORLD’S STILL FAIR FOR ME TO MOVE ON
FROM ALL THE BITTERNESS I TASTED
FROM YOUR SUGAR-COATED LIES

THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN DO
TO CHANGE THE REAL YOU
I SHOULDN’T HAVE LET YOU IN…
