Down Heartbreak Lane

Down Heartbreak Lane

Heartbreak Lane

Here she goes once again

with her suitcase by her side.

Walking down the lanes hitching a ride.

No jewelry on her hands

Just a white ring where once

sat her wedding band.

She is playing freedom’s game

She walking away down heartbreak lane.

Her hair fly’s behind

Like streamers waving goodbye.

Back in the town

there’s a grown man that will cry.

It always ends the same

She’s walking away down heartbreak lane.

Many men will find her

in the new life she will live.

She has youth on her side

and sweet loving to give.

One day she will stare out

with a faraway look in her eye.

And it wont be long

before she whispers goodbye.

It never changes it will always be the same

She will be walking away down heartbreak lane.

When she comes home I always take her back again

Even though I know it will only bring me pain.

I will wake up one morning

and her bag will be gone once more.

She leaves a little note pinned on my front door

I love you honey but the wanderlust just came

I am walking away down heartbreak lane
