Down in Flames
 
 
Will our sordid love go down in flames?
Or will it be doused by the pouring rain
 
Never meant to cause you heartache and pain
Let my tears be washed away by the falling rain
 
All of these tears all I seem to do is to cry
 How I wish I had wings so that I could fly
 
I would fly deep into the darkened night
Fly till I could touch the dawning daylight
 
I would fly into the sun of tomorrow
Bringing an end to all of my sorrow
 
But I’m still standing on the ground
With happiness nowhere to be found
 
Maybe I will drown in a river of my own tears
I have been crying all of these unhappy years
 
Love was just a thin veil that I hid behind
I am no longer awaiting the Lord’s sign
 
Our love at best was just a nightmare
Lying in the arms of someone who didn’t care
 
Think I will get lost in a boat down the river
Lost in all of the promises you didn’t deliver
 
Alcohol is no lasting cure for this pain
But life can certainly leave a lasting stain
 
All of the good memories are past and gone
Silence echoes through our once happy home
 
Lying here on my tear stained pillow case
Wishing that I had never seen your face
 
I guess it’s gonna go down in flames
I’ve become so tired of all your games
