Dream Catcher

You wake up in the night shaking remembering what was on the news in your dream,
But then you think wait a second I'm asleep,
What I thought was a dream was real life, and this dream catcher won't change that it's not in my head,
It won't catch the fact that little boy is dead,
His sister holding his head in her hands,
Like all dreams she would have had if her brain hadn't been broken by the blood coming out of her brothers chest,
As we silently tell her that it was all her fault because she's still alive,
This is not a dream this is someone else's life,
You cannot catch a mothers tears in the beads suspended by strings above your bed,
She's crying because her home in India was bombed but your still saying pray for Paris,
Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite,
But at least you have a bed,
What colors are the feathers falling from the framework of string like kids who have had enough and want it all to stop,
Your alarm goes off as you try not to think that it sounds like the gun shot that killed an innocent man that looked to shady because his skin was a shade darker than yours,
Get out of bed and don't think about the children who died last night while you were safe,
Live another day even though they did not,
Go back to bed but first throw away that dream catcher that acts like nightmares only happen in people's heads.
