Poem -

A Drift

It was peaceful, calm, and tranquil

I lay, floating on my back

In a beautiful ocean.

The sun beams down upon me.

I am free, strong, and immortal.

For a moment I close my eyes

and the next I open in darkness.

There is no light, except a little above.

The more I swim up, the more I drown.

I have cinder blocks tied to my feet

And I'm drowning, in a vastness or darkness.

It seems like there is no end to this loneliness.

I am cold and lonely.

I'm stuck in blackness, suffering.

I reach for the light above, just praying for help.

When I reach for the light, someone grabs my hand.

I reach the surface, and all I see is light.

But I'm not alone, I feel loved.

I hear something, It's a calming voice.

"God is that you? If you can hear me I need help!"

I feel lost and insecure.

Can anyone hear me?

"I hear you my child, and I will teach you how to swim!"
