Early dementia

Please don’t ask me to remember! Its confusing, but I’ll try.
To then realise that I can’t, Won’t someone tell me why?.
Yes! Thank you for the reminder, that word again dementia.
To hide the tear and keep a smile, lets look at it as a adventure.
Talk to me about my life, and give my brain a jog.
Ignore me, know it’s not me, when I shout and swear at the dog
Explain to me a thousand times, I’ll try hide the hesitation.
The many reasons why people push to give my medication.
Take me to see that flower, the one at the wild life park.
And I’ll tell you the story again and again of the rhino and the ardvark.
Bring the baby over, for a sing song, kiss and a cuddle.
She’s a treasure to take my mind off things, when I find myself all in a muddle.
Let’s go over to Weymouth, 
I love it there by the sea.
Down to the beachfront with fish a chips, then a cafe for a cup of tea.
Take me to the garden centre, to admire and look over the plants. 
And help me carry the hydrangeas, I weekly want to buy for your mum and aunts.
Lets go out to town now, on a monstrous shopping spree.
But don’t let me buy a dress, unless the fabrics over the knee.
Today I have some memories, tomorrow I may not!
but for now I’ll keep going, with the concept of knowing, what I’ve remembered not what I’ve forgot!
