The earths pulse

Wind wisps in the cold still air
All around whispers echo 
The forest is wrapping around me 
Like a blanket around a new born
My eyes search for a sign of life
A glimpse of reality is all I need
Far off, an eternity away
A lone flame stands engulfed by darkness, yet so bright
And I realize it is a sign of hope
