Effort

Effort

Please don't patronize me
I want kindness, not sympathy
Brutal honesty is what I expect
Not lies, broken promises and neglect
Be as true to me as you are to you
I'm not your doormat to wipe your shoe
I do just fine on my own
So make sure all your oats are sown
Before you say you're down to commit
Be sure that what you say is legit
'Cause I will not play the fool again
And I don't want to wonder what might have been
So show me your truth and I'll show you mine
And together we'll watch the stars align. ~kjl
