Eldorado

Eldorado

The Flower Children go out to play,
In the emerald cove or forgotten bay—
Where ancient spires from granite rise,
Where bats keep watch with diamond eyes,
Where stalactites fall like glittering spears
Into opal waters hushed a thousand years.
A serpent guards the palace, their abode,
Whose only prince is but a toad—
The mother tree lifts her arms to pray,
Raining blossoms every time they sway.
And the dawn resting on bird wings,
Is rocked to sleep as the wind sings
It's lullaby.
