Poem -

Empty

The fire that once raged in my soul now just a pile of ash. The flame burned out long ago.
Invented by the demons that haunt my mind.     The madness grows stronger controlling every thought.
 Until the darkness consumes me.
I smile to hide the pain.

There is little else we can do but smile, Matthew.
Many of us can be smiling outwardly but slowly dying inside.
It's a sort of defense mechanism we use to avoid a myriad of unwanted questions.
But the words we use in our poetry do not lie for they are as real as they come.
Nicely penned.
