Enchilada

Thank you, for the food. You’re welcome child, de nada,

The new world flavours of a lovely enchilada.

For the power of taste can take me from my home,

From the first bite, I am deep in Mexico.

The rich tomato flavour, so sweet I can’t explain,

The power that it has to take my mind away.

A tightly wrapped tortilla, somehow has set me free

Baking on the beach of the Caribbean sea.

I’ve always loved their food and the flavour takes me back,

To a childhood burritos or some churros for a snack.

But my meal is nearly over and its saddened me so

For I wish I was eating nachos on a beach in Mexico.
