England’s green & pleasant land

England’s green & pleasant land

England’s green & pleasant land

Our green & pretty pastures has been blighted by the rain
So much so it may take some time to look like grass again
Gone is that exquisite emerald green eye-catcher that captures one’s keen eye
Instead fields are just a muddy mess with water up to the thigh

Pouring buckets everyday & night descending from the heights
there’s floods the depth of reservoirs, lush grass is now sludge sites
England’s green & pleasant land
Is saturated & soaking wet, one is frightful for the forecast
How much more are we going to get ?

Tho Mother nature has away of foretelling what may lie ahead,
Perhaps a high pressure with a heat wave will follow this watershed
Let’s think positive our British summer’s not yet over but wouldn’t it be a welcoming wish to see our pasture’s covered in clover
