ENGLISH STRAWBERRIES

ENGLISH STRAWBERRIES

As I looked out on a blanket of snowĀ
I consoled myself knowing there was three months to goĀ
The first English strawberry in the shops would then appear
A sight of happiness I get every yearĀ

I would hurry and rush to the supermarket storeĀ
Getting my English strawberries by the scoreĀ
For me an English strawberry is the ultimate dreamĀ
Served on their own or with lashings of creamĀ

So winter snow please leave and disappearĀ
Three months to wait before my English strawberries are hereĀ
Ā
