Poem -

Enough

It was not enough
To see you grow
Amongst others
With rosy cheeks
And elbows as thin
As green olives.
It was not enough
The sky moving forward
Your red eyes
Your pacing up and
Down, leaving empty the
Room  like a
Flooded field
Glugging, choking,
Warbling,
Damming the air we breathe.
It was not enough
Viewing your hunger
The sweetness buried
In your soul, that animal
so certain of the fall,
The ravenous ferns,
The robust beams
Holding our roof
Made of match sticks
It was not enough
To pause on the landing
Waiting to hear your name
Being called, I would
Smell your skin,
Touch the sole of
Your feet and kiss the
tattoo on your hand.
