Ex

Will my ex ever get it?

That it's over,

time to forget it.

I hope this year he will understand,

no longer will I hold his hand.

Never again his lips I'll kiss,

his company I shall not miss.

I loved him once,

right at the start,

before he tore my heart apart.

For him I gave all that I could,

even more than I knew I should.

My heart is now safe,

in a fortress of solitude,

of which, never again a man can intrude.

Guarded by the safety switch in my head.

Happily alone I will sleep in my bed.
