Existing But Not Living

Existing But Not Living

I exist
but
I have stopped
Living

I dream
Yet
There
Is no
Hope

I pray
Though
The
Words
Seem
To
Go
No where

Empty
Promises
Optimism
Gone
Array

Just an
over
Imaginative
Boy
Persuading
His
Younger
Sister
That there
Is treasure
Underneath
The neighbor's
rose garden

46 years later
And many whippings
from my folks

I still cannot help
To believe
That
Somewhere
There must
Be treasure
Or
Lucky
Numbers
On the
Lottery tickets
I POSSESS

I liked the surprise ending. Winning the lottery would be grand.
