Existing But Not Living

Existing But Not Living

I exist
but
I have stoppedĀ
Living

I dream
Yet
There
Is no
Hope

I pray
Though
The
Words
Seem
ToĀ
Go
No where

Empty
Promises
OptimismĀ
Gone
Array

Just an
overĀ
Imaginative
Boy
PersuadingĀ
His
Younger
Sister
That there
Is treasure
Underneath
The neighbor'sĀ
rose garden

46 years later
And many whippingsĀ
from my folks

I still cannot help
To believe
ThatĀ
SomewhereĀ
There must
Be treasure
OrĀ
Lucky
Numbers
On theĀ
Lottery tickets
I POSSESSĀ

I think many of us can resonate with that feeling. As the Bible says, "deferred hope makes the heart sick". I hope your days become ever brighter and infused with deep and abiding meaning (an eternal treasure trove).

I liked the surprise ending. Winning the lottery would be grand.Ā
