Poem -

Eyes (Beauty Queen Elegy)

They say,

the eyes are the window to the soul.

Well I don't know about you,

but my soul must be painful to look at.

My eyes are dark and cold.

The curtains are drawn,

and no one's home.

My world is dark and cold.

Blessing or curse-

I'm still alone.

Literally.

Figuratively, I am surrounded by thoughts-

mostly harmful-

and my excruciatingly hollow soul.

I'm glad I can't see the pain I've caused-

to myself and others.

You wouldn't want to peak in my windows.

You might not like what you'd find.

I don't.
