Poem -

Fall to Winter

The grasses that were once green and swaying
are now brownish and drab under leaves that lay low and still
Their dance of color has come to its close,
entranced by winters brisk stare
While deep in the mud of lakes that are dark and brittle,
turtles and frogs lie sleeping
Dreaming of frost laced dragon flies that will be fresh
for springs feasting
And as the restless sky turns the very first page of snow
on the coldest season
The grasses and leaves,
turtles, frogs, and dragon flies lay low and still
waiting for winters grip to begin easing
