Poem -

Falling

My eye lids close like blinds hanging from an empty rift.

Tired and weary, my head almost weightless, I drift

off into a darkness so unforgiving, it's haunting

endless, like an undying pain, so taunting.

It steals my perception, my thoughts so unclear.

I cannot grasp any knowing, only the feeling of fear.

Everything seems so far from me, even myself.

I'm standing on the ladder, but I cant reach the shelf,

falling from the top step, I plummet without end.

The overpowering blackness swallows me as I descend.

What a feeling, so horrifyingly unnerving, like dying,

but even death seems more poetic than this chaotic flying.

It feels like an infinity before I'm able to hit the ground,

finally I awake, my body I have found.

The room spins as I lay looking up in my bed,

wondering if there is more comfort in the thought of being dead.
