FALLING.
How it happens
No one knowsΒ
All those yearsΒ
Love just goes
To somewhere else
I suppose.
Lawyers step outside
While they decide
In the best interest
Of your child
They don't even know
The colour of her eyes.
And all you're worth
Here on Earth
Papers and some words
Saying all you own
Is, one day alone
Hours you can keep.
Stars smiling down
Will forever stay
There safe and sound
So say your prayers
For me anyway
And I'll capture tearsΒ Β
Long before they start
And hold them forever
Here inside my heart
And I am falling
Forever I suppose
The further I fall
I'll fall forever
I suppose
There's no telling
Who will save me
Save me from myself
Only Heaven knows
I guess
Only God himself.
A child's only wish
Just for Christmas
A shooting star
To fall from space
For daddy to live
Again at our place.
And you can't helpΒ
From falling down
Cause you can't hold
Onto only dreams
Time doesn't grow oldΒ
As it's suppose to be.
And daddy still
Sounds the same
Coming from a child
And I still turn around
Every single time
Thinking that it's mine.

Wow, such a beautiful refrain.
Thank you.
A very moving read Chris, parts of this almost sounded lyrical, like I could of sang it. Great writeΒ

Thanks, Gwen.
Hi Gwen, i appreciate you spending the time to read my poems. I'm just a novice and my spelling is poor. Sadly i've only ever read two books in my life. Sorry that i write in capitals. I have had three strokes and lost a little bit of eye sight and memory and just find it easier. I also have heart problems and wonder sometimes if i will wake up the next morning. I have a 13 year old daughter, Ruby, so i write to encourage her and make her proud of me.
Hello Chris, I am so sorry to learn of what must of been a struggling journey so far. For the worry you carry on your shoulders. What I have read from you so far, comes from the heart and soul. That is poetry my friend. However it manifests, however it is penned. Never feel you need to apologise for the structure of your writing. As you discover the many amazing poets on here, you will find that there are many different structures used. People will play with words and some will write all in capitals for a piece. Some might write all lower case. Some wonβt use punctuation (me included) what I mean by this is Poetry has a freedom of expression. And in my eyes and in many more, there really is no right or wrong way to write a poem. The classics are classics because their structures for poetry became fashionable. But at the time those structures were also fresh and freely being experimented with. Everything manifests from something. So just keep writing true to you and find comfort in your poetic journey. That is what is most important. I look forward to reading more from youΒ
all the bestΒ
Gwen x :)
Thanks for your kind words Gwen.
