Poem -

Famine

I imagine her
heady,
with the scent
of Bulgarian
roses
and bergamot ..
But I am
starving and
full bellies
seldom feel
slack ..
Still there are
no calories
in memories,
my darling ..
So none of us
shall ever get fat ..

Hi Neville, I really enjoyed how you juxtaposed memories to hunger. Interesting peice...sometimes we can yearn for those memories just as I yearn at times for chocolate.

Hello Neville...

The USA scores high on the Obese side of the World...

There might be talks of food shortages...

It can appear that way...

Still some empty shelves...

However, unless they get away with the worse possible case scenario...

The Weight loss clinics would have to close...

No one will be buying Dietary weight loss anything...

Those who are Skinny will be able to survive longer...

The reason is...

They have maintained and survived on very little food for their whole lives...

They might get down to 80 pounds but, they won't die because of starvation...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Gluttony is not the only cause of obesity .. is it .. National obesity or a tendency towards it are perhaps more a cultural phenomenon .. Greed and lifestyle choices may also come into play .. but I am here to post scribbles and not to enter any particular political or idealist forum ..

Being Me

Hungry for love! What a hunger that is. Satisfying that hunger through the memories is all we have sometimes. A poem that makes you think introspectively awakens forgotten feelings. Awesome work xx
