Fate

Fate
By Lauren Warner
I lay in silence, the day is done
The light are off, I close my eyes
I yearn for the day I no longer wait
For happiness I hope is my fate
I breath in, the tears come out
I clench my stomach and hold my breath
Nobody can hear, they won't understand
It's time to toughen up and be a man
Everyday I wear a mask
The happy face just doesn't last
I need to scream, I need to cry
It takes a lot to stay alive
They say it's a phase, they say it'll pass
But for right now it's an awful hard task
I yearn for the day I no longer wait
For happiness I hope is my fate

Good poem featuring an aabb rhyme scheme, Lauren.
It flows smoothly enough when read aloud.
All poetry being reviewed should be read aloud in order to garner the full impact of the poet's words, I feel.
Ever hear Poe's The Raven read by actor James Earl Jones?
It's just not the same when read silently.
Nice writing, keep up the good work.
