Poem -

Fathers Plea

See that hand you’ve asked for?
That bears your sparkling ring?
I used to hold that hand you know,
As she’d laugh and skip and sing.

See those eyes you’ve fallen for,
That look deep in your own,
I used to dry those eyes you know,
But now she’s fully grown.

See that smile that melts you?
That shines just like the sun,
I used to make her smile you know,
With toys and games and fun.

See those arms you long for?
That are wrapped around your waist,
I held her in my own you know,
And kissed her smiling face.

See that heart you’ve captured,
That to you, she now has sworn,
Ive kept that heart beside my own,
Since the day that she was born

 See this man before you,
As I beg you with my life,
Please take good care of my little girl,
As you take her for your wife.

See him in the mirror?
He now has a job to do,
I was my daughter’s hero,
Now that title falls to you.
