Fathers Plea

See that hand youâve asked for?
That bears your sparkling ring?
I used to hold that hand you know,
As sheâd laugh and skip and sing.
Â
See those eyes youâve fallen for,
That look deep in your own,
I used to dry those eyes you know,
But now sheâs fully grown.
Â
See that smile that melts you?
That shines just like the sun,
I used to make her smile you know,
With toys and games and fun.
Â
See those arms you long for?
That are wrapped around your waist,
I held her in my own you know,
And kissed her smiling face.
Â
See that heart youâve captured,
That to you, she now has sworn,
Ive kept that heart beside my own,
Since the day that she was born
Â
 See this man before you,
As I beg you with my life,
Please take good care of my little girl,
As you take her for your wife.
Â
See him in the mirror?
He now has a job to do,
I was my daughterâs hero,
Now that title falls to you.
