The Favor

 The Favor

Finally she was given the chance to return the favor
Years had passed by but the matter still pressed on her
Until the day he came knocking, knocking at her door,
Now it was her turn to give back and even the score
He needed a place to stay, and gladly she offered one
A small sum of money he placed silently down,
She refused to even touch it, heatedĀ she turned away
Recalling to him the time when he was there for her
How he came to her rescue like a knight in amour
Giving details that had long left his memory, andĀ Ā
How for years she has remembered his courtesy
It was her turn now, and the moment she did savorĀ
Ā The debt would soon be paid, then forgotten forever

LOVE this!!........for me........the final line says it to my soul.............the very nature of doing someone a favor..........has such short life expectancy...........excluding the extreme of course..........but your delivery has that dream-like quality.........and offers insight into the heart of the writer.........beautifully delivered and an engaging moment in time.........frozen like a great photograph in your mind..........well done brother!!.........smiles.........TĀ  xx

Thanks Cherie, glad you enjoyed this one and glad to be back on hereĀ as well...it was based on an actual incident thatĀ puzzled me for a long time, I've always had trouble with the expression 'returning the favor' (I believe certain favors can never be returned, and it's almost insulting to try...) so I wrote out a scenario (that happened) and tried to proveĀ thisĀ belief that certain favors can never be returned and how a person can become obsessiveĀ to try to return such favors... thanks again for your very insightful comment, made me smileĀ

I enjoyed this... Interesting that she wants to forget the fact he saved her? and have it all left behind?

Really cool.
