Favourite Memories

Favourite Memories

I was playing golf - the ball rebounded from a tree,
my partner was waiting for me to provide some mystery,
we eventually made love, it was just one of those days,
stored, indelible, like a misty haze that could not be erased.

We sat high up in a valley, gazing down at ants,
you knew what was coming, what everybody wants,
it's the anticipation, her kisses tasted of bread and butter,
it duly came, if only there were words that I could utter.

The eucalyptus trees had a special scent, standing around,
meat cooking, faint breeze, was there anywhere you found?
I gazed at the Mona Lisa, her sardonic smile eased
my head to one side, acknowledged, could see she was pleased.

I was with Jim Clark, the old racing driver in september,
we went around a bend, that was the last thing I remember.
