FIGHT

Another night alone... again aimlessly wandering,
the halls of a hotel unknown...hopelessly wondering.

My heart though times like stone... now crumbling,
cheeks wet, guts knotted, lips mumbling.
My mind races to speak, but my fingers are fumbling.

Lost so close to the home of my youth,
years away from its bittersweet shelter.
Here I sit...longer in tooth.
Yet farther still from lying with you.

Our quest began in a room,
not unlike this wretched emptiness.
Our love filled its air like fumes,
and sparked the journey toward our nest.

Though not of our making,
this nest now has its first child.
His heart is gentle,
and his soul is mild.

My being shudders for him tonight.
The future bleaker with each new day's light.
Forgiveness threatened by anger's might.
Heartbreak's evil relishes its fight.

FIGHT, MY DARLING...FIGHT!

Join me again in this flight,
let fear of falling escape your sight.
After all, an angel's wings deserve their light.
Please help me make things right.

Dream of us this night.
My love, truly...
With fervor, madly...
Below pain, deeply...

There I will be waiting.
Our family and future too.
Never perfect...always stumbling.
Beautiful still...yet only with you.
