Filth and Sinew

He watches all the lovely shades

Black shadows slip and wretch

Like splintered children upon crosses

He snaps the little bones

And laps up the gall and bile

Like a desert hyena

Drains the life from limbs

Life from life and death forever

Wipes the light

From brightest infant eyes

Strung out on lines of spinal cord

To fester in a sunlit yard

Of stolen fire and day condemned

He is slave to all his machinations

A puppet, marionette in vicious mime

Subjects the flesh to twisted whim

Both within and out

He and the other snarl from

The corners of night-blind rooms

High pitched whimpers and bellows from the bull's head

He snakes his way up flights of stairs

To heightened windows, shattered by his hate

Threshold crossed, he steps into the air

His ruptured spleen and skull fragmented

His passage to the fires sewn

In juvenile skins.
