Finding My Light

Finding My Light

Blinded by what kept me sane.
She told me how brighter days always came.
Never once did I see it because my head was down in the dark.
I liked it there.
There I saw nothing.
My vision fades to black.
I chose to stay there though she would try to help me out.
But I pushed away a hand, a hand that tried to help.
Other times, I saw no one else.
So I stayed in the dark, and usually I was by myself.
Alone with my scary thoughts.
I was in and I'd never come out.
She'd bring the light the darkness never brought.
She kept coming even when I'd try to deny, that I didn't need nor did I want her help.
My mind would change, and I soon thought
That maybe she's right
What's wrong with a little help?
She grabbed my hand, and I climbed out.
Out of that basement where I could never see the light.
