FIRST TIME OUTSIDE FOR A BIT

Dedicated to Magdalena Coote

I admit I found it hard leaving my front door
Been stuck indoors for five days probably more
However words of advice from family and friends
Today was the day I would make amends

Walking to the supermarket is where I went
An hour's exercise well and truly spent
Didn't panic buy as some people readily do
Got what I needed and left something for you

I kept a safe distance as I waited outside
A chat with an unknown person filled me with pride
The wind was strong but felt so good
Just like a spring day really should

Food in my fridge now makes me a happy boy
Going outside for a short time filled me with joy
