Fishnets: The Woman of the Night

She’s just a girl; a mere seventeen,
She’s all woman; to have seen what she’s seen,
Her lips are painted red and her fishnets are on,
She tries to look cheap but her beauty isn’t gone,

She’s got a face that belongs on a billboard,
She’s got an allure that demands to be adored,
Black is the colour that always drapes her skin,
She still looks heavenly even though she’s adorned with sin,

She works hard, but it doesn’t take much time,
She can always make a man commit such a crime, `
The streets are home and the corner’s her workplace,
She’ll always be roaming with her nervously fast pace,

She waits for a man who could be her knight,
She knows it isn’t happening; it’s out of sight,
Although she’s seen it all, they all bring something new,
She’s had a lot, more than just a few,

She can’t run from where she is, but she runs from where she was,
She isn’t afraid of who is next it’s just what she does,
Nothing can be worse than the way things used to be,
She can’t sleep at night because it’s his face she can see,

She hates her life, but she loves it too,
She’s conflicted, and she’ll rub it off on you,
You can’t break her heart; nothing left to break,
She’ll just break yours, just for heaven’s sake,

She loves how her face feels when it’s hit by the icy cold rain,
She’s reminded she’s not numb, she can still feel the pain,
But she can block it out when she’s working for her pay,
She might be dark, but she prefers the light of day,

She fights the demons knocking on her door,
She bites the bullet and she can take on more,
It hurts to breathe sometimes if she tries too hard,
She heaves and heaves but her lungs are scarred,

She was destroyed by the one, who should never hurt her,
She was broken, she young and dumb and it was all just a blur,
He ruined her, all the beauty he created,
She hates the world because evil causes hatred,
