Fists and Words

Upon this day I realise,
How truths were never told.
And amongst the darkness, I surrender,
I surrender and fold.

For how could anyone have the power,
To do what you have done?
Only those with tormented anger,
Could do what you have done.

Fists and words, knotted lies,
Lover and tormentor.
Fists and words, shackled times,
You got lost amongst your anger.

You beat me and you kicked me,
‘Til I was black and blue.
You kissed me and you loved me,
‘Til I forgot it was you.
You kicked your way into my heart,
‘Til I gave up the fight.
You always knew, from the start,
You’d already stolen my light.

Fists and words, knotted lies,
I am now standing strong.
Fists and words, shackled times,
I can now say you were wrong.
