Five Years And One Century
Photo taken at Atlantic City-Summer 1936

Exactly five years and one century ago, you decided to come our way;
In the town of Philadelphia, you were born on Christmas day!
The third of seven children, Adele and David before;
But you were always your Mother’s favorite, the most of all adored!
.
As a teen, came the Depression, many hungry mouths to feed;
So you quit school and started hawking newspapers, to help with monetary needs!
But quite soon you graduated, found a way to make big bucks;
Buying gold at scrapping prices, from those down on their luck!
.
From there you switched to silver, on x-ray film of old;
Hospitals after seven years, allowed it to be sold!
But your high earnings were curtailed, by the coming of the war;
Just after you met my Mother, who you loved and so adored!
.
When it ended you found a new line, and became a legend in your field;
Woman’s Apparel was your vocation, tremendous profits did it yield!
Yet it took its toll upon your body, just sixty-one when you sadly passed;
So on this day I honor you, for my love will ever last!
.
.
Happy Birthday Dad
You always enriched our lives
Sacrificing yours
