Fixated

Fixated

How quickly she became a ghost.

A stranger that no longer scratched at the surface of my skin, but the memory of her, forever embedded within.

I tell myself that she isn't real, only for momentary relief from this pain that I feel.

Whenever I close my eyes, she meets me there.

Sending shivers down my spine, giving a feeling that I can't compare.

Forever in darkness when she invades my dreams.

What I would give to sit in the depths once more.

In those brief moments shared, her presence provided clarity.

I was fixated on the eyes that only planned to deceive me.

It was the possibility of her deception that made me thirst.

It was the sounds of her silence that drove me inane.

How quickly she became a ghost, yet my perception of her; unchanged.
