FLAMES

FLAMES

Im fighting with the angels
That reside inside my head
While I satiate the devils
That creep into my bed

If hell is other people
He is the king of my demise
Though to love him is to fall
I still force myself to rise

I’m doomed to love the devil
Though he throws me in the fire
He leaves me nothing but the ash
And a shelter of barbwire

Tortured by a memory that chants
The brillliance of his flame
I beg my mind for some reprieve
So that I might forget his name.
