Flute music
Listening to Native flute music
Always calms me.
I was lucky, attended a Lakota Dakota college
For two years,
Learned so much, and felt right at home
Because of the acceptance and little Native blood I have.
Southwestern Native blood from my
Great grandmother,
My mother gave me the gift of natural observation,
Thunderstorms rolling over the Rockies
Enthralled me.
No fear, just love of the power of nature.
Once I had a friend who introduced me to
Peruvian flute music,
It wove into my soul, it was a tape he had made
During a ceremony that he witnessed.
Now I listen to Northern Native flute music,
For calming, relaxation, clarity, focus, connection.
This music connects me to nature and humanity
Gently, hypnotically, with sadness and joy.
It speaks of spiritual freedom, death, change, rebirth,
Four directions, four seasons,
Four colors;
White, red, yellow, black.
Simple and powerful,
Steps I take in meditation,
Honoring the four
To be connected to the four elements; earth, wind, fire, water.
Night skies show moon, stars, planets;
Day skies show clouds, blue, sun, growth.
May blessings visit you,
From nature and humanity.
May you seek your path and
Find it in your transformations.
May you know you are loved and
Share that love in your own fashion.
