Fly Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee

Another legend has left us, the Great Mohammed Ali;
When a boy I watched him box as Cassius Clay, “Fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee”!
In February sixty-four, I was there when he won the title, as Liston could take no more;
My hero had done just what he said he’d do, as the crowd in appreciation roared!
I watched every fight he fought then on, from Lewiston till his last;
They had to replay his knockouts in slow motion, for his punches came so fast!
I cried when the Army stripped him, from his title and his belt;
Just because of his new religion, and the true way that he felt!
But eventually, all that “bumbling bullshit bureacuracy”, got orders from the “biggest brass”;
Give Ali his f’ing title back, and quit messing with his ass!
Then “The Greatest” returned to life again, fought Frazier and Foreman as foes;
And although he did not win them all, he was our champion, “wherever” he would go!
You’ve just lost your final fight, but I can hear the angels sing;
Welcome “Champ”, to your new arena, in Heaven, with your King!
We’ll miss you our dear Cassius Clay, and “The Greatest” Mohammed Ali;
“You flew away like a butterfly, but still stinging like a bee”!

The Cosmofunnel team
Hi Cosmo Funnel Team,
Again, as with my poem "Six Million", I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for honoring my work and placing this heartfelt poem about Mohammed Ali on Facebook. The funny thing is, not knowing the protocol for getting a poem on Facebook, I was going to write you this morning to ask if you might consider it. But no pun intended, "you beat me to the punch".
Peace and Love,
Larry xox
Hi Larry..Great tribute to Ali may he rest in peaceÂ
My Respect.. Debs xo
Hi Debs,
Such a sad day. I'm a white man wearing a black shirt with the whites of my eyes crying tears for this great black man. May his soul rest in peace but his legend never be forgotten. Thank you for understanding.
Peace and Love,
xox Larry

Great write for a great man !!!
Hi Mark,
Thank you for your comment of great write. I think you left three letters off your next description. They are "est", for if anyone was the greatest it was Ali! All joking aside, I truly appreciate your most kind comment.
Peace and Love,
Larry

Hi Shirley,
