Flying Free

Flying Free
by Shirley Rebstock 4/21/2015
On the day a loved one dies
Your body trembles and your whole soul cries
Look towards heaven and you will see
A graceful bird flying free
Above the clouds and sky so blue
Nothing on earth left to do
Higher and higher above the rain
No more hurting, no more pain
Gliding on the currents of the wind above
Carrying in the heart friends and families love
Beautiful earth below, beautiful sea
A life, a memory so precious that will forever be
Flying to heaven the Lord to meet
With those loved gone before to greet
As the days go by and your heart breaks and bleeds
Remember your loved ones laughter to heal that need
Look toward heaven and you will see
A graceful bird flying free

You are so kind. You know yesterday when I wrote it, my heart was melancholy and not sure if it was missing those I have loved and lost to death or why I was blue. I was listening to Leonard Skinner's free bird (not sure of any of his words in the song other than free bird). As I was driving I looked at the blue sky and could imagine a graceful bird flying in the wind. So the tune of the music and the title of his song inspired me to honor those lost to death. Thank you again. I would hope it would lift someone's heavy heart from the loss of a loved one.
