Follow your Heart, not the Money

When we follow the route to money,
A dangerous destination is at the end.
Believing that there is glory ahead,
Yet a miserable place is waiting.
Greed mixed with anguish is the location,
Bringing on depression instead of bliss.
If we pursue the true feelings of the soul,
We will arrive at the path to happiness.
Coins don’t possess the joy that virtue provides,
It’s the priceless things in life that offers thrills.
Search your heart for the real meaning of living,
Not gold, which can bring on more problems.

The love of money, but not money itself, is said to be the root of all evil, Michael.
If we place our faith in anything mankind has created, we're in for a HUGE let-down in the end.
We certainly can't take it with us, and all the big boy toys in the world we own won't garner us one more friend in the end.
The only coin I'll need in the end is the golden one I'll give to Charon, the Ferryman, to usher me across the River Styx.
Great writing, sir.
Keep those creative fires burning bright.

Thank you so much for your very kind words!
Beautiful poem. It’s sad how some people think money can buy happiness, for if they think that way, it will just end up doing the opposite when they have the money.
Thank you for reading my work and for your kind words!
