Fool on the Hill

Was Simon so simple

To sell Jack those magic beans

That he went in search

Of Lucy in the sky with diamonds?

Did he climb that beanstalk

And did the cow jump over the moon?

It’s a long and winding road

That leads to the fool on the hill.

Was little Bo Peep so naĂŻve

As to let little Boy Blue kiss her

In strawberry fields forever

As the sheep wandered down Penny Lane?

Did those pigs go to the market

And was the pie man disappointed?

Have you a ticket to ride

And who is the real day-tripper?

Was Humpty Dumpty a rocker

Who wasn’t cracked up

To be what he was supposed to be?

Has it been a hard day’s night

When the kings’ men appeared?

Where was old Mother Hubbard

When the paperback writer

Said, “Hello, goodbye!”
