Footprints On My Soul

So many throughout my seventy years, have left footprints on my soul;
Some much larger than the others, but all of them I now extol!
For they have made my days such joyous ones, brought me happiness and glee;
Some were only cherished acquaintances, some were my precious family!
.
In this last quatrain of my existence, I reflect upon my past;
Blessed souls that cared so much for me, and made my troubles not long last!
They bared their hearts which touched mine too, in ways only love could give;
Some are still down here beside me, but many now no longer live!
.
My tears fall for those that left me, in Heaven, where they now reside;
I think about them daily, as my heart and soul both cry!
Then there are the ones that still are living, send their love to me each day;
I hope I will also be their soul’s footprint, when I have to float away!

For lost loves no longer here

I think instead of trying to respond to these unbelievable accolades you have bestowed upon me, I shall just say that every word you wrote about me, is a reflection of the exact way I feel about you. Our hearts and souls dance together, and have found their poetic mates. The only thing that I'm not happy about, is that from reading all your beautiful comments, my "Kleenex" bills have quintupled.

My Dear Sweet Rose,
As several souls on Cosmo have left their footprints on mine, of course yours, are among the ones that I cherish the most. Fortunately, the only "float" that I have to worry about now, is the root beer kind I get at the ice cream shop. Of course, you will forgive me for my longevity joke, because making light of life is the key to living long. Thank you for your lovely words.
