Poem -

for my mom, who loved drugs more than me

staring at the woman
who once i called mom,
grasping onto her broken smile
searching through a stranger.

knowing that you
gave me the greatest gift,
only to compensate
for your sunken-in face.

There is a lot said in a few words. The image is strong and painful you did a good piece  of writing as you conveyed a message  and made the reader care

Hello Stella

This is a powerful short. There is a true feeling of having lost your mum, despite her physical self still being present. Addiction changes a person and you conveyed that feeling of being with a stranger perfectly. A heart breaking last stanza which gives the reader a lump in their throat for you

You wielded a great poem here which others will empathise with
