Forever...

As I breathe in poison,
My lungs revolt with pain,Â
Burying my tears in an ashtray,Â
I drift into shadows,Â
Our blissfulness was swift.Â
An unconventional gift,Â
Filled with unearthly Bliss,Â
Like Gatsby; I gave you my dreams,Â
You turned me away,
Now I am dying here alone, in pain.
Perhaps the poison will melt away,Â
Perhaps I will not love you one day,Â
Yet now you are my Daisy,Â
And I worship a green light,
A light that's just out of reach.

The line "Like Gatsby; I gave you my dreams," says everything this poem wants to convey. For what better literary character is there for failed love and the pain it brings. Lovely write...
Thank you very much! Yes, Gatsby is woefully beautiful.Â
