Poem -

Forever...

Forever...

As I breathe in poison,
My lungs revolt with pain,
Burying my tears in an ashtray,
I drift into shadows,
Our blissfulness was swift.

An unconventional gift,
Filled with unearthly Bliss,
Like Gatsby; I gave you my dreams,
You turned me away,
Now I am dying here alone, in pain.

Perhaps the poison will melt away,
Perhaps I will not love you one day,
Yet now you are my Daisy,
And I worship a green light,

A light that's just out of reach.

The line "Like Gatsby; I gave you my dreams," says everything this poem wants to convey. For what better literary character is there for failed love and the pain it brings. Lovely write...
