Friend

Friend

Friend, you are my atlas to a better world

Friend, you paint the colors of my struggles

Friend, you paint the colors of my joys

Friend, you know the ways of a dreamer

Friend, you know the path to ethereal places

Friend, you read me like a book and like the plot

Friend, you listen with your eyes, ears and tears

Friend, you teach the music and words of hope

Friend you are a sweet and loving presence

Thank you, Friend—I am profoundly fortunate

Hi Chris....A different write from your usual....it goes to show how versatile you are.... We all need friends who got our backs....love the repetition in the piece.....nicely written

hey Rose....yes, I don't usually write like this, but I hate patterns, poetry is an expanding universe of expression, I suppose as long as it translates from poet to reader, most anything goes... a very liberating art and I'm a perpetual student, friendship has always fascinated me, I appreciate the comment, glad you read....cheers

Jeff, I sometimes try for poignant and end up with pointless, so I'm most honored by your words, be well, and thank you

Hey CHRISTOPHER!!......this is VERY clever brother poet!!.......the repetition, for me, made me think how it is friendships that come and go all through a persons lifetime.......that help them to understand themselves.......to learn new points of view......to appreciate in others what they do not find in themselves......as though the author were saying, "Friend, you are the common thread hemming together the fabric of my life!!".......ALL STARS......enjoyed this VERY much my friend.......smiles.......T xo   ?

hey Tony, lol, you are the clever one, such a profound observation, my friend, honestly poems come to me and I just write them down, it's an emotional overflow manifesting itself in words, so most of the time I so something new every time I read one, I really don't see myself, 'owning' a poem, it may sound dumb, but at times I look back on an old poem I wrote and it's mysterious how it came about, I like that though, I don't want to know how things like that work, anyway my friend that is one great comment....and in response to something you said after a comment I made on one of your poems, I want to tell you that you consistently post the best poems, I won't say more to piss off administration, lol, but just wanted you to know you are recognized and appreciated....cheers

Well.....for someone who states he doesn't like repetition....you do it well my friend! I like this one. Great job! I especially liked the line...."Friend you are a sweet and loving presence"  This can be interpreted by the reader as someone living or having passed away........current friend...or past friend. I love this kind of sentence....poetry is truly mysterious in itself.....interpretation solely rests upon the eyes who read it next....in that, remember Chris....... you can never really...you see.... be repetitive! Hope that made your day! Great writing.      Paula

lol, I 'hate' repetition Paula, but I recognize that certain words can be repeated, like beautiful love friend and my personal favorite, 'freedom' in all its forms, 'repetition' can also mean repeating a poem with different words, that one is fairly common and highly subjective, what I really want to do with poetry is to explore possibilities in form and expression and they are endless, I consider myself a student of writing, loving the variety I see on here, cosmo is a great school for poetry, but only if you really want to learn....hey, you did actually did make my day, love your advice and comment, thank you, it is food for thought, have great day
