A Friend of My Own

Life in this world is challenging and hard
Especially when you feel all alone
Often not looking outside the box
we focus on only what is inside

Many struggle with hurt and pain
they wonder if they would ever feel full of life again
All they see is the misery and strife exhibited among 
the world in which they live
losing sight of love and nurturance and the things 
they've been taught

Until one day someone says look beyond yourself,
see the value of others around you
Make the effort to share and change
open the door and peer outside
make sacrifices and reach out
offer, help, express love
put out the effort and stand strong
be persistent and let your light shine
bring praise to the God up above
Always remember he is greater than your heart
exert yourself vigorously
leave worries behind

Search for peace and leave bitterness alone
examine your heart with vigorousness and and effort
then you will recognize you are never alone
that person who poked you and pushed you is
a true friend and suddenly you will declare
