From the star

From the star

Twas from the star my light did shine
not from these garish coloured things
one that showed the way of hope
from its depth my heart did sing

Twas from the star my soul was born
not from these merry mortal ways
a soul from which my strength came forth
and hailed the joy to fill my days

Twas from the star my dreams were cast
dreams bequeathed through the years
from a simple herdsman's shed
a voice which cast away my fear

Twas from the star I found my home
not from this festive fatuity
it brought my heart in from the cold
and shone upon the love in me
