FROZEN
A fight for change

Neither here nor there, frozen in mid-air
A dependant on the atmosphere
That changes like the seasons
But I'm still frozen,
Held fast, as one tried for treason.
And what is my crime? But to elevate my mind
To rise above the poverty line,
A man who is running out of time
Frozen in the confines of a neighborhood of crime.
But I refuse to be defined by the status quo
The invisible hand that paints my portrait with an uneven flow
I press my way and climb the hills, jumping the hurdles
And the traps of addictions they have set to kill.
Each new day, I rise with the spirit of determination
Facing the world with unchanged enthusiasm
To be the best person I could be
Despite my gender, race, and ethnicity.
Wilford Barker.

I think, at the end of the day, this is all we can and should aspire to. To be the best person we can. We have all been dealt different cards to begin with. But it's what we do with our cards. What makes this world truly beautiful to me is the great variation of life. And wouldn't it be a boring place if we all believed in the same thing, worshipped the same way, spoke the same language, wore the same clothes and were all the same colour? Eurgh, how bland!
I wish you all the success in the world x
Thank you for such a detailed response to my thoughts and feelings.
