Poem -

frozen eyes..

frozen eyes.

Born into darkness
Seeing the light
But not the beauty
Of the sun
Nor the sky
Neither the ground
Beneath her feet
No sight
Within her eyes
To capture
It's delicacy
Painting
A canvas of the mind
Born into frozen
light
Trapped behind
The grace of sight
Imagining the surroundings
And what it is like
To see
Creating in mind
Imagery
Can she see
What you can see
What beauty you
Describe delicately
A higher power
streaming light
Born into darkness
Behind eyes
Closed tight
No slight
Upon touch
To never be the same
As seeing eyes see
Hot , cold,
tempered warmth
Within the darkness
Of thee
Trapped inside
her own body
Believing
her hair is brown
Spends most days
Looking down
A tear in silence falling
Upon the never ending
ground beneath
Her feet
Still a smile
Towards those who greet
A tender soul
The world at her feet
But no sight
To show her the way
Lost in the vision
Of others
In hopes you hear her pray
Wishing for sight
Within every night
To see the world around her
Trying her best to trust
Everyone around her
Alone in darkness
A choice she didn't make
Upon her birth
The risk did take
Leaving her behind
closed eyes wide open
Seeing only a cloudy haze
No flowers blooming in spring
Do her eyes
privilege Gaze
Sitting silently in
summer
Beneath the warm sunrise
Wishing she could see
And experience
Within her cries
All the wonders of the world
Within her frozen eyes.

Touching. I feel, we neglect the privilege of being able to see. We also shun those who cannot and often do not realize they have feelings, dreams and pains like us. For all our compassion, we are an uncaring lot.

I was inspired by a blind lady crossing at the lights yesterday, she had an amazing independence xoxo
