Furry Little Friends

In memorial of Bambi (sleep tight sweet girl)

Furry Little Friends

When you think of pet,
You think dog or cat I bet,
You’d never think of hamsters or rats or guinea pigs
Pests to you but pets to us
They’ll leave an even bigger print on your heart when they leave us in time
They can read you it seems when your happy and sad
And for adults they may think of cute pets”just a fad”
But they are so much more you see
For others as well not just for me
When they wheek as you walk in the room
And popcorn which are their little zooms
When they cuddle you as you cry
You never imagine having to say goodbye
So keep your many pictures and happy memories
And access those happy times whenever need be
They’ll make you smile and make you cry
It’s always hard to say goodbye
They don’t stay long but you have to be strong because they’re watching you from over that bridge
Of rainbows and green fields and salad filled fridge
Smile my friend that’s what they’d want from us
They’ll be waiting for you wondering “what’s all the fuss”
They are loved and held and always content
So rest assured you were such a good friend!!

Being Me

O, I am so very sorry for your loss. Such little ones leave huge holes in the heart. I have had many pets. Hamsters, rats, gerbils, Guinea pigs, rabbits, budgies, cats, dogs, horses, ponies, Goats and a donkey. Goodbyes are always so very painful. This is a lovely poem and a fabulous one for the memory of little Bambi. Hugs x

Bambi belonged to my sister, who is currently at university, I have lost rats and hamsters recently as well so I thought it was a fitting homage to her ?
