Future Events

Future Events

I sneaked back into the past, there was my wife,
with whom I was going to spend the rest of my life,
so beautiful, with long dark hair, where it all began,
later she said that she would never marry a white man.

If you had a choice - would you keep to what you said,
or maybe just wonder what it would be like instead,
to marry that white man who sometimes run away,
or you might be fortunate to find one who might stay.

Choices, we have them and often make them blindly,
sometimes blatant, without thinking, rather unkindly;
if I went into the past, I had to return to the future,
but would remember you in my wonderful adventure,

I was the white man who ran away with much to learn,
but fate took a hand to ensure that I would return.
