Gainsborough

Gainsborough

taste  malt..
and brimstone skies
years pass....
one day you'll catch a wift
on the breeze and hurl
back to the Mill on
the Floss
Spillers Dalgety,, but its
now a different name..
though  still churning self raising..
just the same.
Home of Marshalls tractors...
a bastion of Engineering.. at its
best employed 5000 men.,
developing steam engines and
torpeados.. engraving history in
sweat and oil..
where Britannea Works shook
combustion engines into invention
now stands a shopping mall..
when it rains  potential
business clatter on the cobbles
to clock on.. before the hooter
goes.. ..
the old Tudor Hall..
where Katherine Parr wept
for her first husband..
who sadly died
whilst old Henry 8th
wasn't backward at coming
forward..
five wives and a widow..
After Henry's death, Queen Katherine
married Jane Seymour brother
Thomas.. step father of Elizabeth
1st,  now the richest man on
English Shores..
He was tried for treason and
beheaded..
its all political manoeuvring..
not sure who is worse..
clandestine gatherings in secret rooms,  hiding in
dark catacooms, skulldugery
and black market pirates.. from the same vein as brave
Pilgrims of a New World..
Spring wends
the serpent Trent weaves
an inland tidal wave..
The Aegir.. which thrashes
downstream from The Wash,  something to do
with  high tide funelling..
King Cannute tried
to hold back the tide..
The Norse God failed his venture
to foil Mother Nature..
it waits for no man...
I think its time a woman tried..
